Just wondering if anyone had ever thrown a send-off party. We've thought about it and talked about it, but never actually done it-yet. I'd like to start it off this semester & was wondering if anyone had any pointers/tips/hints/ideas that I might ponder :)

Thank in advance!

My school has had a couple of send off parties before. Our biggest problem is getting people to attend. We've had Disney music, brought along our pictures, had trivia, as well as snacks. At EIU we try to treat it as more of an informal offer session, because the new interns are still going to have more questions.

Same as Megan (sorta). I actually found it very helpful to pair with Campus Reps from other local schools (if there are any in your area) & do one BIG send off party because (a) you'll have a larger budget, (b) better attendance, and (c) it allows a chance for all the new interns to get to know each other before they go. They're gonna have a lot of questions (of course) so make sure you allow time for that, and bring pictures. We did a mini slide show of a bunch of our programs themed to Disney music & they loved it. :) Good luck!

I personally haven't, though my school has done so. They're fun and usually answer those last minute questions everyone seems to have right before they leave. You know... the stuff you didn't think about during the interview or after you got accepted. Plus, they have a friendly atmosphere with someone they can come to for advice. Always a plus, in my opinion.
